Helga Nowotny
Helga Nowotny is professor emerita in the Department of Social Studies at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ) and the President of the European Research Council. Nowotny researches primarily in science and technology studies. In addition to over 300 articles, she is the author of Insatiable Curiosity: Innovation in a Fragile Future, Naked Genes: Reinventing the Human in the Molecular Age, The Cunning of Uncertainty, and An Orderly Mess. Nowotny earned her PhD from Columbia University and a doctorate in jurisprudence from the University of Vienna. She also holds honorary doctorates from Leuphana Universitat Luneburg, University of Bergen, University of Edinburgh, University of Lancaster, University of Leuven, University of Twente, and the Weizmann Institute of Science.
