Michelle M. Wright is an associate professor of Black European and African Diaspora literature and culture in the Department of African American Studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She has served as the Estella Loomis McCandless Junior Chair in Literary and Cultural Studies at Carnegie Mellon University, the Thomas E. Critchett Visiting Assistant Professor at Macalester College, and an associate professor of English at the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. She is author of Becoming Black: Creating Identity in the African Diaspora, as well as many articles and book chapters, and is editor of several anthologies and journal special issues.
