The Evolution of Language as Technology: The Cultural Dimension
Full description
The phylogenetic emergence of language occurred after hominins evolved a mental capacity for more complex thinking, a greater need to domesticate their ecology, and enriched social structure. This capacity exerted pressure to exchange information explicitly and expedited knowledge growth through cultural mechanisms based on imperfect replication and rapid change in vernacular linguistic systems.
