The occupation used cement for unnatural purposes. This material, from which we build our homes to take shelter and provide us with safety and security from the cold and heat, has been made murderous, their missiles turning ceilings into rubble on the heads of the people who had been living under them.
Death Has a Heart of Stone
O death, beware thyself!
Beware the dead
and their loved ones.
Beware:
The poet,
What the poem says,
Letters,
and the word.
Beware.
For you are alone, so alone.
You have no father,
Nor mother,
Nor child,
Nor brother, nor sister.
Beware:
The children
Not finished breastfeeding,
Not yet crossed the distance to the breast.
Beware their voices.
Beware:
Death
White shrouds
Raised hands
Gathered masses
Mourners
Coffee
A single date
Mothers’ ululations
Beware,
Beware,
O loner.
مشهد غير طبيعي
وظّف الاحتلال الإسمنت في استخدامات مُغايرة لاستخداماته الطبيعيّة، فهذه المادّة التي نبني منها بيوتنا لنحتمي بها، وتكون لنا أمنًا ومأمنًا من البرد والحرّ، صارت مادّةً للقتل بعد أن باتت ركاماً فوق رؤوس ساكنيها بفعل الصواريخ.
للموت قلب صخرة
أيّها الموت احترس منك،
احترس من الموتى
وأحبّتهم.
احترس
من الشاعر،
وكلام القصيدة،
من الحرف،
والكلمة.
احترس،
إنّك وحيدٌ وحيدٌ،
ليس لك أبٌ،
ولا أمٌّ،
ولا ابنٌ،
أخٌ، أو أختٌ.
احترس
من طفلٍ
لم يكمل رضاعته،
ولم يختبر المسافة إلى النهد،
احترس من صوته.
احترس
من الموت،
من البياض،
والأكُفّ،
واحتشاد الناس،
والمُشيّعين،
والقهوة،
وحبّة التمر،
وزغاريد الأمّهات.
احترس،
احترس
أيّها الوحيد.
