About the Author

Catherine Liu is professor of film and media studies at the University of California, Irvine. She is the author of Copying Machines: Taking Notes for the Automaton (Minnesota, 2000) and the novel Oriental Girls Desire Romance (2012) and is coeditor of The Dreams of Interpretation: A Century down the Royal Road (Minnesota, 2007).
